Administration

We have an immediate opening for a talented full-time Bookkeeper who reports to the General Manager and will be responsible for the following: 
  • Full-cycle bookkeeping
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Government returns including GST/PST and Worksafe, as well as union dues and pension contribution forms
  • Calculate and prepare cheques and online payments for payroll, tax and other bills
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports
  • Maintain A/R and A/P ledgers
  • Capital asset amortization schedule preparation
  • Prepare financial statements and monthly accounting reports
  • Prepare monthly Board reports and newsletter submissions
  • Review and fully understand general ledger
  • Sit on the club’s Finance Committee
  • Maintain health benefits program
  • Maintain food and beverage contractor accounts
 
Qualifications: 
  • Completion of college program in accounting, bookkeeping/related field OR completion of two year recognized professional accounting program OR at least 5 years' experience in the field
  • Proficient in QuickBooks and MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles
  • Retail or service industry experience an asset
  • Familiarity with employee benefits, taxation and union contracts
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in dealing with budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills, able to consistently meet deadlines
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability

Grounds Maintenance

Equipment Manager / Greenskeeper
 

The Equipment Manager reports to the golf course superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.  This program includes the repair of equipment, record keeping of services and repairs performed, and placing orders for parts and supplies for equipment or service. The Equipment Manager properly communicates any needs or problems relating to the maintenance or repair of equipment to the superintendent and/or the assistant superintendent.  The equipment manager places safety as a top priority and is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and building.

Typical Functions:

  • Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course equipment including: diesel, electric, and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, trenchers, sweepers, rollers, mowers, power trimmers and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.

  • Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.

  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.

  • Oversees the shop area maintenance.

  • Regulates employee use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent and, if needed, performs greens keeping and other duties as directed.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines.

  • Solid understanding of reel grinding and set up of mowing equipment.

  • Welding and fabrication skills.

  • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession.

  • Ability to move heavy objects.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records.

  • Knowledge of how job performance affects the playing conditions of the golf course.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

This is a CUPE Local 608 Union position with a present pay rate of $26.26 per hour plus full benefits and RRSP contribution.

Food & Beverage & Kitchen Staff

The Greenside Bar & Grill is a full service, licensed restaurant establishment serving lunch and dinner, as well as operating concession kiosks, 7 days a week, typically April through to October.  We are a busy golf course and public restaurant that also caters to many large events.

We are looking to fill the following positions for the 2017 golf season. 

 

Full and Part-time Bar and Wait Staff

Serving experience not mandatory but is an asset.

Must have a valid Serving it Right and be available weekends and evenings.

Salary: $11.00 / hour starting wage, gratuities, food and golf discounts.

Full Time Line / Prep Cook

Duties include:

Station Set Up - responsible for preparing his or her station before the start of each service

Prepping Food - chopping vegetables, butchering meat or preparing sauces.  Depending on the needs of the kitchen, the line cook may also be asked to prepare items for other stations or for special events.

Cooking - responsible for preparing the items requested from his or her station.  Required to work with other cooks in the kitchen courteously and consistently as directed by Sous Chef or Executive Chef.

Clean Up - responsible for cleaning his or her station, and may be asked to help other cooks clean their stations, disposing of garbage, cleaning utensils, pots, and pans, and cleaning cooking surfaces.

Stocking - may be called on to unload delivery trucks and store inventory correctly, responsible for rotation of stock and quality control.
